Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe

The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce is the initiator and organiser of the “Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe” which has become a premier platform for economic and political leaders dedicated to improve the economic, political and cultural relationship between China and Europe. The conference takes place every two years in Hamburg. The third “Hamburg Summit” will take place from 10 to 12 September 2008 at our Chamber of Commerce.

According to all participants, the second “Hamburg Summit” which took place in September 2006 was a huge success. Top-class speakers and participants, among which H. E. Wen Jiabao, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, H. E. Xu Kuangdi, President of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, H. E. Lee Kuan Yew, Minister Mentor of the Republic of Singapore, Michael Glos, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as Helmut Kohl and Helmut Schmidt, former Chancellors of the Federal Republic of Germany, attended the conference. The third “Hamburg Summit” will take place from 10 to 12 September 2008. Special focus will be on climate and environmental protection issues.

The “Hamburg Summit” is supported by sponsors, basically leading European and Chinese enterprises, and a number of “Summit Partners”. One of our partners is the China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE) which will take part in the “Hamburg Summit” with a high-ranking delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs of whom the leaders will also participate as speakers in the different panels.
